This Pesher is a continuation of the theme introduced in the Pesher of the Day of the Holy Cross on the topic of Moses & the Ten Plagues of Egypt, but there is much, much more.
This Pesher offers a more complete discussion of Isaac Newton’s method of Bible interpretation when it comes to prophecy. It also introduces a “Targumist” interpretation of the Book of Revelation.
Finally, it closes with a discussion of the Imprecatory Prayer and sets the stage for its purpose to be discussed in our Pesher for the Day of St. Stephen the end of December.
Errata: Aside from a few grammatical errors which might make an English teacher cringe, there was only one which might raise the eyebrows of a theologian: the one on page 6 in which I use the word “acronym” instead of the well-worn “gematria” to describe the number “666” in reference to the Antichrist. I have some ambivalence to using the word gematria because of its widespread misuse, but that is probably the better term.
