No new Survival Praxis articles were posted in June because our household was happily busy with wedding preparations for my youngest daughter’s wedding. I was not supposed to do anything but walk her down the aisle and do a little “father-daughter” dance at the end. But as luck would have it, we faced a last minute crisis.
It was an outdoor wedding on the shores of the beautiful Lake Coeur d’Alene and, of course, in June, it can rain; so we came with a big meeting tent.
It rained. But there was also a lightning storm that knocked-out the power. So, did I plan for that? Of course, not.
We hurriedly got a generator set-up in less than an hour before the wedding for lights and the sound system and all went well, but for a brief moment – it was utter chaos.
Afterwards, my wife and I joked about it. I warned her that she needed to drive carefully because “a meteor might strike the car in front of you!” What are the odds of that?
This website might earn the reputation, someday, of being the “ultimate” disaster site. I don’t know, but don’t freak out. It’s not the end of the world, yet. If there are any lessons we should learn from the Bible, it would certainly include the confidence, that in every crisis, there is a way through it. That way might mean our death, but even then, death is a path to somewhere else better.
Enjoy your summer.
