2016 would later be recognized for its prophetic significance, but at the time, the political watershed that was Brexit and the election of the Great Disrupter would shock the world.
I now watched other actors on the world stage create political revolutions while concentrating on my finances and business. Refinancing my mortgage at a much lower interest rate, thanks to the new credit union connections, along with my sons, who were now old enough to enter the family business – we were blessed with several years of exceptional productivity and surplus. We built another house on the property, a barn, and a shop. Important investments in the property made it possible to double the acreage, run more cattle, and ward off government attacks on my finances and property rights.
In 1980 I had been served notice by the zoning board in Rockford, Illinois, to “cease and desist” my residential Bible studies because my property was not zoned for “religious activities” . . . almost a half century ago.
Now, many years later, having moved to Benewah County, Idaho – to a place which to this day denies that it has zoning, yet it has a zoning board which meets monthly to make recommendations to the county commissioners – I received threatening letters because “too many people” resided on my property. This is typical of the harassment I have received from local officials during the 30 years of residency. My aspirations for a covenant community, learning center, and refuge for family and friends remain in limbo because of this adversarial relationship.
Nevertheless, my research has continued as I have faithfully shared my thoughts with family and sometimes friends at every Sunday gathering in my home. We have kept up with worship, teaching, and our sacramental life.
Crisis came in January, 2020, however, when I fell and broke my back. I’m sure my adversaries were satisfied that it was God’s judgment for my false doctrines, but I looked upon it as a wake up call for the opposite. I had not published anything for a decade and now that was all I was physically capable of doing. No longer able to work, my sons were forced by necessity to operate the business and run the cattle. I could still garden as physical therapy. My misfortune I took as a rebuke for my idle pen. God was forcing me back into service.
Two websites would be created, 2046AD.org and the next year, a local property rights advocacy in savebenewahcounty.com. They chronicle what has happened since then.
Sharing these years with my long-time colleague, Dennis Zwonitzer, gave both of us an opportunity to rebuild things that were lost. For Dennis, a place of sanctuary where he was not compelled to compromise his status as a free and lawful citizen; for me, my ministry. The crisis that was the Covid Pandemic in the early 2020s proved that my usefulness to the Lord was not finished just yet, but perhaps, it was finally maturing.
As Moses was misinterpreted and misrepresented, so was I. I had intentionally burnt bridges with many in my past, both of religious and political connections. As Abraham said in spurning the gifts of the king of Sodom, I too rejected affiliations. God had intervened to thwart and even defeat my enemies. Was God “parting the Red Sea” for me? That is a question yet unanswered.
The name of the Church was changed to the Cambrian Desposynic Episcopal Church and I formed a local organization to deal with local threats to Christian dominion: the McCroskey Territorial Agrarian Society. An advocacy for property rights, there is an end goal of restoring the landed gentry: the foundation of America’s republic.
