I have never discussed the symbolism of the book cover, letting readers come to their own understanding from reading the content. But to help the novices, let me say this: If the Apostle calls us to be “crucified with Christ,” and Mary Magdalene is the symbol of Zion and the Church, then it follows as Christ’s consort she would have been present with Him in the Crucifixion.
The Fisher King motif of the Grail Legends is added in the symbolism of the various “Miriams” (Marys) of Scripture, which phonetically connect the “Mirs” to the “mers” of the mer (sea) maids of these legends.
