Update for June, 2023: In conjunction with these radio lectures, Mccanney reintroduces Mark Gaffney’s book, Deep History and The Ages of Man, self-published (2nd Edition, 2022). In it he discusses at length the different theories both for the reality and cause of a past polar shift. After reviewing Hapgood’s theory, in the latter half of the book, he settles on McCanney’s cometary theory involving the tidal effects of a close, Earth encounter with a planetary-sized comet. Update for June, 2022: James McCanney is a force of nature. His prodigious productivity over the years is so vast that it is difficult to take it all in. He faithfully continues his weekly shortwave broadcasts, now discussing his scientific works published in the 1980s. Much of it is available to the public as appendices to his later books.
The scientific community from NASA to the “Electric Universe” crowd have chosen to publicly ignore him, but they do pay attention to his material. If you want an accurate understanding of a theory, you have to go to its source. McCanney “copycats” make mistakes and McCanney’s explanation last week of the difference between “magnetic dynamo” physics and plasma “capacitor” physics to explain the Earth’s electromagnetic fields could only have been done by him.
Pay attention.

Update for February, 2022:
Nikola Tesla is the great pioneer of physics as it pertains to electricity: both in theory and in practice. Much of our electrical technology is based upon the sometimes unfriendly competition between him and Thomas Edison. The AC current which governs most of the grid today was created by him.
In recent decades, “electric universe” theories have been promulgated by various scientists, sometimes relying upon Tesla’s discoveries. Groups have formed, such as The Thunderbolts Project which have integrated these theories into cosmology, as has James McCanney whose work preceded theirs by at least two decades. I have followed the Thunderbolts group for twenty years – even back when they were writing in the Kronos Magazine. Their video productions are fun to watch and I have been pleased by their presence on the web. However, for reasons I will explain another time, I have not found their research to be directly pertinent to the purposes of this website. Consequently, I have not created a link to their material, but it is not hard to find. See below.
McCanney’s works are far more relevant. He has carefully delineated the boundary between “electrical” plasma physics and Newtonian physics which relies upon the force of gravity to explain celestial mechanics. For example, while it is possible to “shield” against electricity, there is no shielding against gravity. Gravity permeates through and controls all matter. A countervailing force must be found in order to resist it.
In contrast, some members of the Thunderbolts group have become overspun “enthusiasts” for the electric universe concept and have overstated their case, even to the point of making gravity itself an electrical phenomenon. More on this another time.

Update for January, 2022: Although ignored by the Establishment “tier two” scientific cartel, Comet Leonard did create a brightening of the planet Venus during its close encounter last month. I saw it with my own eyes two days before its closest approach, in between the clouds of our seasonal snow storms here in the North. It did not, however, indicate a cometary tail.
McCanney and others have established that Venus has a non-visible tail, as does Earth. By the middle of this month, Earth will be in its annual electrical conjunction with Venus, in which we will be subjected to a new influx of viruses from space. Much later in my Survival Praxis series, I will be reviewing Hoyle’s and Wickramasinghe’s Diseases from Space, (Harper & Row, 1979). Not only have scientists discovered that viruses survive in space, these authors, along with McCanney, have demonstrated the theoretical case that viruses are created by the dynamics of cometary formation. The implications of this hypothesis will undoubtedly impact the doctrine of pandemics, if it is ever acknowledged and taught to the general public. The reason why I used the word “cartel” above is to call attention to the use of pseudo-science to perpetuate money-making schemes by pharmaceutical companies in collusion with their lackeys in government.
A discussion on McCanney’s science of space travel will be too long for these posts; so I have decided to save it for a future issue of Survival Praxis, probably in April.

Update for December, 2021: McCanney has been focusing of late on the rapid approach of Comet Leonard. He urges our star gazers to watch Venus on the horizon of the evening sky. Comet Leonard will be passing close enough to Venus to connect electrically and McCanney is expecting Venus to brighten and perhaps “go comet” by forming a visible tail.
Almost a decade ago, my son followed McCanney’s advice to watch Comet Ison with its close encounter with Mars. There were electrical results as Mars for a brief period acquired a greenish halo.
I promised a discussion on McCanney’s theories on space travel, but I will need to wait until next month. However, as a precursor, I will mention that he believes that airliners can be used for high altitude flight to carry “construction tubes” which can be launched into Earth orbit. Once enough tubes are in orbit, a shuttle can be sent up to capture and assemble them into a large space station capable of artificial gravity and of supporting a “greenhouse” type eco-system which could provide habitation for a large number of people. You need to listen to his shortwave radio broadcasts from August through October for more details.
Update for November, 2021: McCanney has entered a very productive phase of his career. He has made a successful cottage industry of manufacturing and selling water filtration systems. He has the very best and I have used his products for many years. As soon as I was out of the hospital after recovering from covid pneumonia (see Survival Praxis #6), I had my son put in a new filter for the kitchen sink dispenser. I cannot emphasize enough how important clean water will be to you in the coming years. The water is contaminated everywhere. And other filtration products will not do, because the filter elements themselves are either limited in their scope chemically or they deteriorate and “gas-out” contaminating the supposedly filtered water. McCanney personally monitors the quality of his products and uses his own engineered technology to provide filters that will last and will not poison you.
Also, he has been lecturing on space travel and the practical methods for how it can be done. Reference his radio programs for the past eight weeks. I will offer commentary in my December updates.

Update for August, 2021: McCanney updated his book on Planet X last year to prove that Comet Hale-Bopp was Planet X. He has long argued that Comet Hale-Bopp was a planetary-sized comet. The “dirty snowball” comet theory of conventional “tier two scientists” ridiculously understates the size of comets.
NASA has announced another comet which is due to enter our solar system: Comet Bernardinelli-Bernstein – “a thousand times more massive than other comets and between 62 and 124 miles across.” It is due to arrive about 2031. McCanney argues that this comet is yet another one that is understated in size.
In a recent radio broadcast (July 15th), he explains that the miscalculation is based upon the use of luminosity as a scale of measurement. Comets are not bright snowballs as is conventionally believed. Every satellite encounter with comets has revealed that they are black. Consequently, their scale of luminosity should be an indication of objects that are much larger in degrees of magnitude.
Even though this comet will not be making an encounter with the inner solar system, one wonders if McCanney’s “action at a distance” hypothesis might alter the effects of the next solar nova, especially if this comet discharges the solar capacitor like Comet Hale-Bopp. Or, it might be a triggering mechanism, if its expected encounter with Saturn were to cause a planetary nova. Don’t forget the spectacular effects in 1995 of Comet Shoemaker’s collision with Jupiter. ****
Update for May, 2021: One of McCanney’s inventions is the “Re-calendar Portable Sun-Star Clock.” It is a simple device, once assembled, that can be used to calculate your latitude, set the principal North-South, East-West coordinates, and rebuild both a calendar and time clock no matter where you are on Earth. After a polar reversal, solar nova, and crustal displacement, you will need to know where you are and re-calculate the seasons. During the weeks and months after the nova, the Sun and stars will not be visible because of clouds, ash and heavy snow which will be falling continuously to extreme depths. If the magnetic field flux has not electrocuted you, it will certainly have fried any electronic devices. Wound time-pieces will be useful to test calibration and the speed of the Earth’s rotation. It may have changed, along with the distance of the Earth from the Sun. The orbits of some planets may become elliptical (such as the planet Mercury) and you will need to know if the celestial chaos following will be bringing them to near-Earth encounters (see Merlin, Part 3 under Articles above). There are a thousand things to think about and plan for. God willing our political leaders will have the sense to avoid wars and confrontations long enough to prepare. But don’t count on it. 25 years may seem a long time away. And many of you will have the opportunity to have lived out your lives, but for those who must live through these catastrophes, the day of reckoning will be here “in the blink of an eye.”

James McCanney has done a number of things over his career but they have all revolved in some way around his view of the electric universe. He was a true pioneer as a plasma physicist. He generally believes that Earth catastrophes have occurred because of close encounters with celestial objects, usually planetary-sized comets. During the years of Comet Hale-Bopp and others of the 1990s and early 2000s, he expressed genuine alarm – not of collision, but of close encounters to create, what he calls, “action at a distance.” As things have calmed down in recent years he has turned his attention to the resolution of environmental issues through the use of an advanced wind-driven power system, water filtration, and other inventions.
He has not offered any commentary on solar novas but he did bring attention to the fact that sun-diving comets do sometimes cause solar flaring.
Many years ago, McCanney was responsible for bringing attention to the publications of the Culdee Trust from New Zealand. The Culdee Trust is known for its publication of The Kolbrin Bible which is a collection of what appears to be ancient British and Egyptian legends, some which bear similarities to biblical stories. There are several references and accounts of past catastrophes from encounters with celestial objects which McCanney believes are comets. These texts predict a future encounter with The Destroyer.
Another publication of the Culdee Trust is the “Gospel of the Kailedy” which purports to be a gospel record of the life and teachings of Jesus Christ preserved by fleeing monks in early medieval Britain. It contains what we can imagine was in the “Gospel According to the Nazoraeans,” a lost gospel sometimes mentioned in the patristic writings of the early church. Update September, 2020: Even though McCanney is a pioneer as a plasma physicist, he does not view “electromagnetism” to be the dominant force in the universe. He is still “Newtonian” in the sense of viewing gravity as the controlling natural law which dictates the movement of all celestial bodies. This is in contrast to Davidson, Vogt, and others who subscribe to “electric universe” theories. Perhaps, it can be argued that gravity itself is an electromagnetic phenomenon or force, but McCanney has not propounded that viewpoint. It seems that electromagnetism exhibits a force that is too mercurial and volatile which, unlike the steady consistency of the force of gravity, does not provide for us a very practical physics.
McCanney has not addressed the possibility of a nova in the Sun and for that reason does not offer for us any input which would warrant an update. Nevertheless, as an inventor and a proponent of space exploration, his research and inventions will become essential for non-state sponsored space colonization. For example, he has devised a theory for space travel involving the generation of an electromagnetic force field for protecting a spaceship. Also, he has invented “space sails” to utilize the solar “wind” currents in space just as ships of the sea use the ocean currents. These kinds of inventions, even in theoretical form, will be necessary for future survival.
Also, his introduction of the Kolbrin and Whiteman’s dissertations on “the Destroyer” lends useful information on how nova-like events affect the Earth. Future studies will be published on her contributions in time.
Update December, 2020: In a recent broadcast, McCanney claimed that Comet Hale-Bopp, which was a planetary-sized comet from the 1990s, was large enough to discharge the solar capacitor. He is not alarmed by the risk of solar outbursts as he believes it will be a long-time before the capacitor is recharged. However, it remains unclear if he thinks the effects of the discharge will now allow deadly galactic radiation into the inner solar system. But it certainly suggests that the Sun may not nova any time soon as believed by Vogt and others or if it does, it may be a weak nova event. Regardless, the weakening magnetic field of the Earth would lower the threshold considerably as to the deadly effects of solar and galactic events.
Update March, 2021: Like Vogt, McCanney has deistic leanings and believes in advanced civilizations of the prehistoric and inter-stellar past. An important read is his book on the “Nazca and Palpa Lines of Peru” which famously appear to be a myriad of drawings on the Earth’s surface of various animals, insects and geometric images which can only be seen from space or high altitude flight. Published in 2015 and available in pdf format on his website, it is a scientific discussion of these anomalies and a presentation of his hypothesis that they represent an “Ancient Interferometer Fractal Antenna Complex,” a conclusion which he came to after on-site inspections of the soil. His discussion of inter-planetary and inter-stellar flight is a must read for all who believe in a future of human space flight.
