The full spectrum of light travels at about 186,000 miles per second. This includes the infra-red, ultra-violet, and x-rays. At 93 million miles from Earth, it takes about 8 minutes for the light photons from the Sun to reach our atmosphere.
We think there will be warning signs before the Sun novas. That will be a topic much later in this series. Right now, we are discussing the nature and magnitude of the disaster itself that awaits us.
When the actual nova commences with the initial solar flash, you have 8 minutes. If you are a Flat Earth theorist and believe the Sun is only 3,000 miles away . . . well, good luck with that!
There is a magnetic field reversal that occurs during the time of the nova, but we are not sure when. We don’t know if it occurs first from a cause independent of the Sun, or whether, the solar forcing causes it. The field reversal also lets in the cosmic radiation and perhaps causes the Earth’s rotation to stop and then reverse.
Douglas Vogt believes the reversal happens before or at the instance of the nova. People living on the west coasts of the various continents will be immediately inundated with an oceanic surge moving initially at the speed of the Earth’s rotation: 1000mph at the equator. Some people believe that the Earth’s rotation will slow down gradually before the complete stop; so people might have some time to move to higher ground. Don’t count on that.
All we know is that at past reversals, the surge was enough to empty the oceanic basins and create a sustained tsunami across entire continents and empty into the basins at the opposite end. In other words, at the last reversal/nova, for example, the Atlantic Ocean emptied itself completely to transverse the entire American continent and drain into the Pacific Ocean, which had itself been emptied to inundate and transverse the Asian, African and European continents.
This is an astonishing and utterly frightening scenario, almost defying credulity, were it not for the obvious fact discovered by submarinal mapping in recent decades which clearly shows deep sea canyons carved into the oceanic bedrock. These canyons begin at the continental shelves and descend into the oceanic abyss. There can be no other explanation, unless you want to believe that once upon a time the oceans did not exist. But even then, ascribing it to the Flood of Noah is not an adequate explanation. These canyons have been formed by a repeating process of inundation. A one-time flood event could not have done this.
We believe that the solar flash evaporates 450 feet of the oceans because that is how much the sea-level dropped at the last nova to expose the continental shelves and create the massive ice sheets.
If that scenario plays out the next time, half the globe will be fried and the other half will be flooded. The air will be depleted of breathable oxygen, first from the inferno and then from the blast wave. The scalding steam from the evaporation explosion will be many miles thick into the upper atmosphere. The blast wave will blow the rest into space.
The Earth’s gravity will retrieve most of the steam and atmosphere and bring it back into Earth orbit but not in time for those unprotected creatures on Earth which will suffocate in the hours following.
While the flash represents the movement of energy, the blast wave represents the movement of the debris field from the solar crustal shell: a collection of particles of various sizes from dust to pebbles to boulders, with the plasma and gases which form on the Sun or are captured by its gravitational force. It will be hot and toxic. The debris field moves at about 1500 miles per second. It will reach Earth hours after the flash. Douglas Vogt believes the Earth will begin to rotate in the opposite direction after about 8 hours. So, it is possible that the debris field will strike a different portion of the Earth’s surface. Again, we are not sure which portion.
The blast wave will create a massive sonic boom which will be deafening. I expect that most survivors will lose their hearing just as any survivors of the flash will have been blinded. The percussion of the blast will crush you, unless you are protected. A blast wave travelling 1500 miles per second is deadly.
While all of this is happening – in the space of hours – the Earth’s crust will be sliding over the mantle as the viscosity increases. Volcanic eruptions and earthquakes will be happening everywhere. The blast will collapse the Van Allen Belts. The electrical charge they contain will short-circuit on the Earth’s surface. The cold will soon follow, as the atmosphere has been depleted and the Sun expends its energy and enters an extreme solar minimum. Some areas on the Earth’s surface will experience flash freezing, as the atmosphere will be too thin to protect us from the frigid conditions of space. More in our next installment.
