Remains of the Day: On the Passing of Douglas Vogt

We live in tenuous times and life is becoming increasingly fragile. Douglas Vogt heroically survived Covid-19 Delta variant only to die from a stupid gardening mishap. I have sometimes joked that my demise might someday be caused by tripping over my shoe laces. Vogt fell while digging in his garden. It happens.

But such perils aside, we are all facing the really big one: the solar nova catastrophe.

Douglas Vogt’s life was dedicated to the science of it and warning the public. His voice is still with us in the literature and lectures which he has produced in recent years.

I discovered him, as many did, in 2018 with his YouTube lecture series on the Coming Ice Age. For me at a personal level, it was both an unbelievably electrifying and horrifying experience. Even though I had been a follower of Robert Felix and James McCanney for two decades, nothing in their presentations could prepare me for the terrifying scenario being described by Vogt. His clinical presentations can create a hypnotic disconnect from the violence of the reality which he describes.

I obtained all his books and listened to his lectures multiple times. At first, the science of the scenario seemed unbelievable. But with each lecture, objections were laid to rest.

What had first caught my attention was his claim that 2046 AD would be the year when this scenario unfolds. My acquaintance with the writings of Sir Isaac Newton had already singled out that date as unique in God’s prophetic timetable.

It took me two years before I could mention any of this to my family or colleagues. I was going through the five stages of grief. Vogt spoke to this psychological response directly in more than one of his videos.

When I told my family, I started this website. It was hard on them. We don’t talk about it much but it remains a shadow over our futures.

This website will be the setting of an ongoing discussion of Vogt’s material. He left us with a wealth of information that still needs to be processed and integrated into the architecture of survival planning.

But I receive news of his death with foreboding. As talented and energetic as other catastrophists might be in this movement – people whom you should support – nevertheless, Vogt had the needed gravitas, which sadly, is now lost to us. We shall not see another of his kind again.

I don’t think there will be any preparedness help forthcoming from the government nor from the institutions which we all depend upon for our safety and security. You are on your own.

I do not know if Vogt’s family will find a way to publish the material he was working on. He was trying to figure out ways for us to survive this scenario. Any results from his research would be appreciated.

We have been orphaned. Get used to it. Survivors are doomed to a lonely existence.

Vogt was on his own spiritual journey. It was different than mine. But you all need one of your own. You need to cultivate a relationship with your Maker, and discover, as Vogt did in the Diehold – the Divine Logos of creation (Gospel of John, 1:1) and in that “WORD made flesh.” (v. 14).

Just picked up his book again Reality Revealed after first reading it in 1978 which changed the lense how I saw our existence.

I didn’t read it then. But one of my college buddies did and tried to explain it to me. This was in 1979. I forgot about it for almost 40 years. I wonder if my life would have been any different and had been better spent had I taken it seriously. I think a lot of people are going to be thinking the same thing as we steamroll toward this Day of Reckoning. Thanks for sharing.
