Survival Praxis #35 – The Kill Shot, 2.0

Ben Davidson reports for the Suspicious Observers YouTube channel that on or about March 14th, the Sun exploded on the opposite side away from the Earth. Evidently, we do not have satellites anymore in a “helio-synchronous” orbit to monitor the opposite side of the Sun (I thought we did), so it is impossible to measure the scale of the explosion, except that it had to be a really big one. SoHo feed from the Earth-facing side shows the propagation of the wave in a fully-orbed ripple emanating with impressive effects. Even from the opposite side, it impacted Earth.

Davidson is convinced that this was a Carrington-level event (an X45+ solar flare) which had it occurred on the Earth-facing side, would have been a civilization-ending impact in terms of destroying the electrical grid. This is possible, at least for the side of the Earth which would have faced the immediate impact of the pulse. We do not know how long the elevated proton stream would have lasted. We do not know if a few hours is enough to cripple the grid or whether it will take several days of sustained forcing.

I was tempted to include the report as an “Alert” post, but because it was on the opposite side of the Sun, I elected not to. Even though the Sun’s rotation will turn that turbulent region toward Earth in a few days – or right about now, as of this writing – it is probable the excess energy will have dissipated. Usually, X-class solar flares are followed by weaker ones. But we shall see.

We have been here before. In every peak of the solar cycle, there seems to always be a solar eruption which rises to the level of a “kill shot,” but to our good luck, it is always on the opposite side of the Sun.

Scientists have pondered this phenomenon. Are we really just lucky at a cosmic version of Russian Roulette?

Of course, religious folks like me might be tempted to attribute it to “Divine Providence” and “God’s protection.” It still might be so, but not in the way of a miraculous intervention. There is some evidence at a scientific level which suggests that because the Earth is tethered electrically to the Sun – as are all the planets – the exchange of energy defuses the explosive nature of the Sun’s stormy weather, at least when it faces directly at the Earth. The pattern seems to be consistent enough to suggest a natural law is in play.

Nevertheless, now that Earth’s electromagnetic shields are in perilous decline, we do not know if those factors are changing.

Douglas Vogt has come out in a recent video lecture with a risk assessment. He believes there is a 20% percent chance of a Carrington-level event during this solar cycle, and an “almost 100% certainty of multiple Carrington events in the next solar cycle”: the one immediately preceding the next peak of the Gleissberg cycle in 2046 AD. We are currently in Solar Cycle #25. Vogt is saying that we will experience these Carrington events in Solar Cycle #26, which will peak in the early to mid 2030’s. There is another ponderable, which I have been working on the math to calculate: it is whether a full-scale nova is even necessary for the Earth to experience the catastrophes as described on this website. What kind of solar forcing would be necessary to stop the Earth’s rotation, and even reverse it? We already know that solar storms impact Earth’s rotation at second and millisecond “jerks.” But it usually speeds up the Earth’s rotation; it does not seem to slow it down. Is it because some streams are positively charged while others are negatively charged? What if it is a really big storm? And what role does the intruding galactic current sheet play in this scenario?

If you notice the satellite feeds, a CGI of the Earth is often superimposed on the image to demonstrate a sense of scale of these solar eruptions. The size of the Earth to the Sun is comparable to the size of a B-B pellet to a basketball. In other words, the Sun could erupt in a localized area – perhaps a mere 1 or 2 degrees of surface area – but to us, it would appear as if the entire Sun has exploded. The flare would encompass the entire planet.

I propose to discuss this at length and revisit the science of what causes the Earth’s rotation in the next issue. It has been a long-time in coming.
